The changing face of the world in 2016 appears to have impacted employee engagement, offsetting the significant gains which were observed the previous year. With an increase in populist movements in areas such as the United States, the United Kingdom and parts of Continental Europe, combined with concerns about rapid technology increases which may soon make some jobs obsolete, uncertainty and anxiety is infiltrating the workforce and contributing to reduced levels of employee engagement. Such changes present new challenges for leadership and if left unaddressed, could continue to impact employee engagement across the globe.
